Supercell ID is the single sign-on system that links the progress of Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, Clash Royale, or Hay Day to an email address. Changing this address can be done directly from the game, without an external form, as long as a specific protocol is followed. The procedure relies on a double validation via confirmation code sent successively to the old and then the new address.
Technical checks before changing the Supercell ID address
The email change often fails due to an overlooked prerequisite. Before adjusting the settings, three conditions must be met simultaneously.
- The old email address must still be accessible. The system sends a confirmation code to this address to validate the change request. Without access to the inbox, the standard procedure is blocked.
- The new address must not be associated with any other Supercell ID account. An address already linked to a profile will be rejected, even if that profile has been inactive for a long time.
- The account protection feature (SMS and recovery codes) must be taken into account. If it is activated, an SMS code or a personal recovery code will be required in addition to the code sent by email.
Checking these points before initiating the change helps avoid getting stuck halfway through, with a temporarily locked account while waiting for Supercell support to intervene.
To fully understand each step of the process, the possibility to change email on Supercell ID is documented with screenshots that complement the procedure described below.

In-game procedure to change Supercell ID email
The operation is done without leaving the app. It works the same way on Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, Clash Royale, and other Supercell titles.
Access Supercell ID settings
Open the game connected to the account whose address needs to change. In the game settings, select the Supercell ID section. The gear icon on this screen opens the specific Supercell ID settings, distinct from the general game settings.
Initiate the address change
In the Supercell ID Settings tab, the “Change email” option appears next to the currently registered address. By tapping on it, the system sends a first verification code to the old address.
This code must be entered in the game. Once validated, a second field requests the new email address. A second confirmation code is then sent to this new address. Entering this second code finalizes the change.
Propagation to all Supercell games
The address change automatically applies to all games linked to the same Supercell ID. There is no need to repeat the operation in each app. The new address immediately becomes the one used to log in across all titles and on all synchronized devices.
Account protection via SMS and recovery codes
Supercell has deployed an additional layer of security that directly affects the email change. This feature, called account protection, adds phone verification to sensitive operations.
Its operation relies on two complementary elements. The first is a phone number capable of receiving SMS, registered in the Supercell ID settings. The second is a set of personal recovery codes, generated upon activation and to be kept in a safe place.
When this protection is active and an attempt to change the email address is detected, the system requests either the SMS code sent to the registered number or one of the recovery codes. This barrier prevents a third party who may have compromised the email inbox from changing the Supercell ID address without also having the phone or the codes.
Activation is done from the same Supercell ID settings menu. It requires:
- An active phone number capable of receiving SMS
- A secure storage space (password manager, offline document) for the recovery codes provided by the system
- The initial confirmation via SMS code to validate the registration of the number
Losing access to both the email and the registered phone makes account recovery significantly more complex. Supercell support can intervene, but the identity verification process is then lengthy and without guaranteed immediate results.

Loss of access to the old email address: contact Supercell support
If the old email address is no longer accessible (account deleted, provider abandoned, password lost without the possibility of resetting), the in-game procedure does not work. The verification code sent to the old address can never be entered.
The only alternative is through the Supercell support integrated into the game. In the settings, the “Help and Support” section allows you to open a conversation with an agent. You will need to provide elements proving account ownership: player ID, purchase history, device used during creation, old email addresses associated.
This process takes several days. Responsiveness varies depending on the support load and the quality of the information provided. Keeping a record of in-app purchases (receipts sent by Apple or Google stores) is the most effective proof to expedite processing.
Changing the email address on Supercell ID remains a quick operation when the conditions are met, but account security primarily relies on activating SMS protection and keeping recovery codes safe. Setting up these two elements before they are needed turns a potential emergency into a simple formality.
